ASWEM - Advocates for Women in Science, Engineering and Mathematics USA Advocates for Women in Science, Engineering and Mathematics, or AWSEM, brings together parents, educators and women professionals in science-related fields to kindle and support young women's interest in science, engineering, mathematics and technology (SEMT).
Athena UK Based in the United Kingdom the Athena Project aims to advance and promote women in science, engineering and technology in Higher Education. The project focuses on the senior managers and academics that are responsible for the organisational climate and the structures and processes which can encourage or deter women from participating in academic careers and progressing towards the top.

AWiSE - Association for Women in Science and Engineering

UK Based in the UK, the association's objectives are to promote SET for girls and women, acting as a forum, a network for mutual support, a collective voice and a centre of information and resource.
BFIY - British Female Inentor of the Year UK An annual award that aims to recognise and promote the success stories of women in the UK that have come through the challenges of turning an idea into reality.
Building Work for Women UK Partnership between employers, training providers and support organisations. Aim: to reach a wider, more diverse pool of people (address the skills shortage) through practical solutions and support. Also to address the barriers women face

USA The Commission on the Advancement of Women and Minorities in Science, Engineering, and Technology Development was established by Congress on October 14, 1998, through legislation developed and sponsored by Congresswomen Constance A. Morella (R-MD). The mandate of the Commission is to research and recommend ways to improve the recruitment, retention, and representation of women, underrepresented minorities (namely, African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and American Indians), and persons with disabilities in science, engineering, and technology (SET) education and employment.
CCWEST - Canadian Coalition of Women in Engineering, Science and Technology Canada CCWEST is a national coalition of groups that promotes women in science, technology, engineering and math, celebrates their contributions and applies new vision to these fields.
Change the Face of Construction UK Change the face of construction provides "a network for the exchange of information, news and support through its detailed website, linking to other organisations, disseminating case studies, promoting good practice and initiating innovative programmes" Activities include three toolkits (recruitment, retention and customer satisfaction), mentoring schemes, career development lectures and training courses.
CPE - Campaign to Promote Engineering UK The campaign aims to encourage the brightest, most creative young people to choose a career in engineering for the UK in order for it to remain competitive in world markets and to provide engineering solutions to ensure global sustainability for future generations.
CWEST - Cornwall Women in Science, Engineering and Technology UK The aims of CWEST are: to interest and encourage girls and women in SET projects and careers, to assist teachers and provide mentors in schools, to provide help and experience for women returners into SET, to support women scientists and engineers in SW England and to network ideas, information and friendships in SET worldwide through email contacts.

DFES - Department for Education and Skills UK Produced a Code of Practice on age diversity in employment (non-statutory). It sets the standard for: non-ageist approaches to recruitment, training and development, promotion and redundancy and retirement.
DTI - Department of Trade and Industry UK Towards Equality and Diversity The Government proposes to outlaw unfair discrimination at work on grounds of sexual orientation, religion and age, and to amend the current disability and race discrimination laws.
Engender Scotland ENGENDER is an information, research and networking organisation for women in Scotland, working with other groups locally and internationally to improve women's lives and increase their power and influence.
Engineering Council UK The EC(UK) was created on 22 March 2002. It is a direct successor of the chartered institution first established in 1982 to promote and regulate the engineering profession in the UK. It succeeded the Council of Engineering Institutions, taking on responsibility for the Register of Chartered Engineers, and the Engineers Registration Board.
EOC - Equal Opportunites Commission UK Provides straightforward information to help individuals and employers. Published Equal Opportunities is Your Business Too (1999), a good practice guide aimed at helping small firms deal with equal opportunities (produced jointly by the EOC, CRE and NDC)
EPSRC - Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council UK The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) is the UK’s leading funding agency for research and training in engineering and the physical sciences.
European Science Week Europe Through thought-provoking activities and a pan-European approach, the European Science and Technology Week's mission is to create a totally new perspective on science. The emphasis is on showing, rather than telling, Europeans how science and technology affects them, from the simplest gadgets to the most sophisticated satellite technology.
GASAT - Gender and Science and Technology International The range of issues addressed by GASAT participants is vast, including: classroom-focused research and intervention in first school to graduate school; informal and out-of-school education; surveys, analyses and interpretations of choices made for or against science and technology; factors associating with women's access to and progression in 'non-traditional' areas of work; considerations of the gendered nature of science and technology and the consequences this carries, and strategies for changing the status quo
GEN - Girls Education Network Engineering and Systems International The Action Guide for Girls' Education guide was created in response to the 1995 International Women's Conference in Beijing by the San Francisco Bay Area Girls' Education Network. The network is comprised of a volunteer group of teachers, parents, writers, sociologists, and academicians who wish to provide educators with concrete ways to raise awareness with regards to educational access and equity for girls around the globe.
GWiiN - Global Women Inventors and Innovators Network International GWiiN is an innovative approach to actively promoting and developing practical solutions that women are bringing to our daily lives.
ICE - Institute of Civil Engineers UK ICEFLOE - equal opportunities forum set up to increase awareness of equal opportunities through training and the media; to research and reduce obstacles to equality in the workplace; to challenge and root out discrimination if and when it occurs, and to keep ICE policies and practices under review.
IIE - Institute of Incorporated Engineers UK The IIE represents the interests of practical engineers and technicians, providing professional recognition, professional career support, professional development opportunities, and professional information. The IIE is a friendly, approachable resource that engineers and technicians can call on to help keep their careers on track.
Imagineering Fair UK The Imagineering Fair was aimed to counter old-fashioned views of engineering by using fun and active participation to encourage children to realise the creative possibilities of science, engineering and technology.
LAWNS - Local Academics Womens Network (part of Athena) UK To provide information to assist in the career progression of female academics in SET and to promote existing female academics who have made great achievements in SET.
Making Place UK A great site for science ideas for schools work. Suitable for schools liaison activities and for teachers.
MENTOR Point UK (NW) From the smallest voluntary groups to the largest corporations and university departments, new ways of mentoring are being developed. North West Arts is keen to draw a group together from the widest range and across all sectors, where practice and principle can be shared, discussed and developed.
NAWIC - National Association for Women in Construction USA The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) aims to encourage women into construction and, raise the profile of those professional women already working in the industry, encouraging best practice and providing mutual support.

Opportunity Now UK Opportunity Now is a business led campaign that works with employers to realise the economic potential and business benefits that women at all levels contribute to the workforce. Opportunity now is about women's employment in general and not just SET but it does take an interest in SET.
Portia UK Portia is a web-based project that offers information and links for women in SET.
PSETW - Promoting Science, Engineering and Technology for Women UK A government website used to attract and retain more girls into engineering as well as provide access to many statistics regarding women in SET.
RAE - Royal Academy of Engineering UK An organisation to pursue, encourage and maintain excellence in the whole field of engineering in order to promote the advancement of the science, art and practice of engineering for the benefit of the public.
SETNET - Network for Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics UK SETNET aims to ensure there is a flow of well motivated, high quality people from schools who have an interest and understanding of engineering related subjects.
SWE - Society for Women in Engineering USA SWE stimulates women to achieve full potential in careers as engineers and leaders, expands the image of the engineering profession as a positive force in improving the quality of life, and demonstrates the value of diversity.
The European Commission Europe The European Commission is undertaking a series of measures to promote women's participation in research. An action plan provides the basic structure for the initiatives to be implemented over the course of an unspecified length of time.
WAMT - Women and Manual Trades UK WAMT is a membership-based organisation set up by a group of tradeswomen (1975) to: provide information, advice and support to women working in, training in or wishing to enter the construction industry, to raise the profile of women's participation in training and employment in trades where women are traditionally under represented and to help improve the conditions of training and employment in the trades
WEPAN - Women in Engineering Programs Advocates Network USA WEPAN is a non-profit educational organization founded in 1990. It has a membership of over 500 and is led by a 13-person board of directors from academia and industry. WEPAN's mission is to be a catalyst for change to enhance the success of women in the engineering profession.

WES - Women's Engineering Society UK WES is a registered charity whose main aims are to promote the education of women in engineering and to advance the education of the public concerning the study and practice of engineering amongst women.
WHERE - Women in Higher Education Register UK WHERE is a web-based database containing information on women in SET.
WIA - Women in Architeucture UK Women in Architecture membership is open to all women architects.
WiC - Women into Computing UK Women into Computing (WiC) is a network of people committed to raising the profile of women in the computing and IT fields.
WiSE - Women into Science and Engineering UK WISE is a campaign not an organisation to encourage more girls and women to consider careers in engineering.
WiTEC - Women in Science, Engineering and Technology UK WiTEC is a well-established European network with co-ordinators in 12 European countries. The main head quarters are based in Sheffield Hallam University, UK.
WITI - Women in Technology Internatoinal USA For more than a decade, WITI has successfully provided women in technology inspiration, education, conferences, on-line services, publications and an exceptional worldwide network of resources. WITI is the first and only international organization solely dedicated to advancing women through technology.
WITS - Women in Technology and Science Ireland

Women in Technology and Science (WITS) was inaugurated in November 1990 to actively promote women in science in Ireland.

WRN - Women Returners Network UK WRN is a charity organisation helping women get back to work through offering support and advice on education and training. It organises opportunities for women to network through special events and seminars, and is constantly looking at new ways to meet the challenges that face women returners and employers.
YEC - Young Engineers Club UK Based in schools and colleges throughout the UK, Young Engineers Clubs are a national network for promoting science, engineering and technology for children aged between 7 and 19. Young Engineers Clubs (YEC) currently operate in over 1400 schools and colleges with a membership of over 20,000 students
