The main aspect of the Balance Project is to establish a set of
methods that can be adopted by Universities and Engineering Faculties
or Departments to attract, recruit and retain more balanced numbers
of female and male students. To do this, the suggested methods first
need to be documented and then tested. This is where the Balance
Project Partners become involved.
Over the course of the project a number of institutions will be
found to work with Balance and test out one of the two types of
method: WES Groups and Schools Liaison.
Each partner is given £1000 funding to try out one method
over the course of one academic year. During this time they are
given support and advice from the Balance Team and in return we
ask that an evaluation document (of at least four A4 pages) is produced,
using a template, to document what worked and what didn't, what
was learnt and what advice can be passed on to others trying each
method out. This information will then be used to revise the resource
packs and produce a more effective method for others to use.
Our current and past partners are shown below, along with the type
of implementation they have chosen and the staff member we are working
with.
